ALTERNATIVE GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY

An 18-Month Civilian Bridge to Constitutional Legitimacy.

AGONU is a limited, technocratic authority designed to restore the constitutional order—not to inherit permanent political power.

01

Genesis & Constitutional Trigger

On 22 September 2026, the incumbent executive sought to remain in office beyond its lawful transitional mandate without a popular vote.

That act exhausted the constitutional legitimacy of the de facto administration and triggered the sovereign safeguard established by Article 4(3) of the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan.

AGONU was constituted by a civilian, technocratic coalition in September 2026 as a strictly time-bound bridge. Its authority derives from the people, is constrained by law, and terminates automatically upon the installation of a democratically elected government.

02 / NON-NEGOTIABLE SAFEGUARD
“No member of the AGONU National Executive Council, Council of Experts, or appointed transitional administration shall be legally permitted to contest any elective office in the 2027 General Elections.”

The irrevocable self-exclusion clause ensures that transition is a public service—not an electoral advantage.

Open Accession Protocol

Unity without forced political conformity.

AGONU extends an open invitation to civic organizations, opposition formations, professional associations, faith communities, women’s and youth movements, and constitutional public servants.

Accession does not require ideological surrender. It requires only a binding commitment to the 18-month mandate, fiscal transparency, nonviolence, leadership self-exclusion, and independently administered elections.

  • Accept constitutional supremacy
  • Submit to independent financial audit
  • Renounce candidacy during the transition
  • Protect humanitarian and civic space
